Arsenal's 3-4-3 formation: Analysis

I want to talk about Arsenal's 3-4-3 formation.

Apparently, Mikel Arteta found the best formation for his team. In this formation Arsenal is very effective with ball and without ball. Of course, players' physical condition isn't good, so they can't play impressive during 90 minutes.




First picture: Arsenal have very suitable players for pressing in front line - Aubameyang, Lacazette (Nketiah), Saka (Pepe). In the middle Xhaka-Ceballos duo support pressing and wingbacks Tierney and Bellerin support too. That's why Arsenal's pressing system can be so strong. When opponent team use direct passes then Kolasinac and Mustafi are going forward for intercept attack.

Second picture: This formation gives 
some advantages to Arsenal's build-up. Yes, David Luiz isn't good defender, but he has good vision and pass ability. Therewithal Arteta choose Mustafi instead of Sokratis, because german defender's pass ability is better than Sokratis.

What advantages is given by 3-4-3 formation to Arsenal?

- Like fullbacks Tierney and Bellerin, who can support attack very effectively play wide in this formation.

- Arsenal's centre backs aren't reliable. But in this system they can fix one others' mistakes.

- We know Xhaka has some defensive problems. In this formation he plays as a central midfielder instead of a defensive midfielder. Playing in that role makes him very useful player for Arteta.
